How to stream live to a Facebook Live Event with Livepush

Learn how to create and stream to Facebook live event with Livepush

Recently, Facebook has introduced its new integration product "Official Events API", which made the legacy integration of Facebook event creation and scheduling to stop working.

In this article, we'll show you how to create and schedule a new live event on your Facebook Page, Group or your Timeline, using the Facebook Live Producer platform.

Requirements

  1. A Facebook account.

  2. A Livepush account.

Step by step guide

Scheduling a new live event on Facebook is pretty straight forward.

Let's walk through the steps.

1- Sign in to your Livepush account (if you don't have one, create your Free Account.

2- Go to your Dashboard Home and click on your live stream i.e. Live Input or Pre-recorded Live.

3- In the Stream Dashboard page, click on Add Destination under "Destinations" section on the right.

4- The destinations dialog will appear with all of the supported platforms, click on the Facebook icon and Click on Configure Stream Keys button.

5- Next is to go to Facebook Live Producer Page and select whether you want to schedule the live event on your Timeline, a Facebook Page or a Facebook Group.

6- Then select the Create live video event to continue to add details about your new live event.

7- From the Create event page, you can can add event's title, description, planned time for your event and a cover photo

8- After adding all the details regarding your event, click Next.

9- From the Personalize page, select Settings from the left sidebar, then choose Stream to view your Stream key. You must copy this stream key for to be latest used in your Livepush dashboard.

10- Finally, click on Create Event to save this event.

11- Lastly, go back to Livepush and enter the copied Stream Key into the Facebook Destination dialog box and click Save Destination.

Note: Enter the universal Facebook server address in the first text box.

Facebook Server Address: rtmps://live-api-s.facebook.com:443/rtmp/

Great Job! you have successfully added your Facebook Live event as a streaming destination.

Bonus Step: Toggle the "ON/OFF" switch next to your Facebook destination and start streaming to Facebook.
